In Thy Sight

The sequence „In Thy Sight“ of photographer Dirk-Martin Heinzelmann takes a glance at believers in Israel and Nepal. It fascinates him the way religious people connect their convictions to tradition. Buddhism, Judaism and Islam relay on prayer, recitation and forms of sacrifice. Moments of spirituality change the state of mind, reflects in gestures, postures, determines the “trajectory” of the eye-line. The photographer’s record resembles a song stuck in the brain, although the swallow’s striving cry freely connecting Al-Aqsa compound and the Wailing wall can not be heard, the odors filling the air on Buddhist’s worship-places can’t escape his stills any more.
